Riccardo Zullato Modeling Showreel 2023

I am thrilled to present my final showreel for The Rookies contest! This collection showcases my most significant hard surface modeling works created in Autodesk Maya. I hope you appreciate them and can feel the dedication and passion I poured into each project.
Enjoy

Harkonnen War Ornithopter

Allow me to present my first and most formidable creation. This particular piece demanded extensive time and effort, owing to its intricate design and, above all, the lack of clear references.

Reference Wall

As I mentioned earlier, these were the only images I relied upon for the creation of the model. Not being able to see the forms clearly was a significant obstacle, but I sincerely hope that you still appreciate the effort that went into it.

Ying & Yang Project

This project embodies my belief in the power of balance. Inspired by the remarkable work of artist Qi Wang on Artstation, I aimed to capture the essence of our existence within the perpetual dance of events. The rotating fishes around the Earth serve as a visual representation of our intricate connection to this universal law.

This is the concept that inspired me. The biggest challenge here was aligning the perspective and shapes with the original concept. I aimed to stay true to the original concept by imaginatively modeling the lower parts of the fishes and adding the golden inscription of my nickname: Zulla.

Lego Banana Bot

This is a personal project I did at SkyUp Academy, and it has an interesting story behind it. After the first period at the school, many already knew about my passion for robots and androids as seen in great masterpieces of Japanese animation like Evangelion, Akira, Gundam, Ghost in the Shell, and more. Despite knowing this, the professors played a little trick on me by assigning me the task of creating this cute Lego banana. It turned out to be a fun experience, and whenever I look at this work, it brings a smile to my face. I hope it manages to do the same for you too!

Unreal Engine Project

Another project I worked on at school using the marvelous Unreal Engine was recreating the infamous Batman Arkham Asylum prison. As a team project, I took charge of modeling a significant portion of the building, sculpting the columns, creating modular assets, and handling some lighting and camera animation. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience to bring this iconic location to life, and I'm excited to showcase our collective effort.

Real and Digital Maquette

Last but not least: Nemo, my maquette brought to life digitally using ZBrush. I saved this project for the end because it holds a special place in my heart. Hand sculpting this piece was like giving birth to an idea, and seeing it come to life fills me with immense joy.
Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey.
