KIOKU(REMEMBRANCE)
I'm Serly Marlina, an aspiring Environment Artist honing my skills at MAGES Institute.
My project, set in the 20th century, captures a time when a school was being built amidst a war. I aimed to evoke a sense of nostalgia, transporting the audience back to an era when infrastructure was constructed in traditional ways.
The inspiration for this project came from the remarkable work of Denys Davydov. His exceptional lighting techniques in a classroom setting sparked my interest and motivated me to create a similar environment. Through this project, I hope to pay homage to his work while adding my unique touch.
WORK PROCESS:
Over a period of 2-4 weeks, I gathered references and utilized PureRef for image storage. To manage my schedule effectively, I employed a Gantt chart which greatly assisted in asset development. For modelling and UV unwrapping, I used 3ds Max, while Substance Painter was my choice for texturing. The level art and lighting were accomplished using Unreal Engine.
BREAKDOWN:
My aim was to recreate the classroom element designed by Denys Davydov, but with a more playful and child-friendly twist. By adding scattered 3d assets (like boxes, paper etc), I sought to enhance the nostalgic feel of the classroom, evoking memories of our past.
