Welcome to my Rookies Submission!

I am a student of digital arts and Entertainment in Belgium. 2 years ago I started my adventure here as a 3D artist. With no experience so this was a long but amazing path for me.

I still learn new things every day and that is what makes this study so special. Each time I made a finished project i thought this was the best I could do,  but turned out not to be the case after I did some simple improvements. The projects I will show you now will probably also need improvements, but so far I'm already proud of what I've achieved!

Shakal the Half Formed

I already had some experience using Zbrush but had never heard of the word “baking”.

I had never used substance painter. So my first 2 assignments were certainly not impressive, but when I mastered these programs, I still managed to bring this piece to life. Also, I had no experience with Unreal, so my presentation was a mess. 

Now that I have more experience I've recreated my presentation for my portfolio. This turned out to be a big improvement. Another great learning moment.

Scary Little Buddy

Here, We had to create stylized characters with a focus on the pipeline of game-ready characters. For this assignment we had to start with a highpoly sculpt in Zbrush and after we made a lowpoly retopo in autodesk Maya. Like any other course, this was again something I had never done before. This was a parkour but I had a lot of fun with it!

Sumo Girl

Last but not least I have my Sumo girl here. This is my final for the Stylized Creation course.

I like the volumes and the textures. The same principles apply to this assignment as for Scary little buddy. Making a game-ready character.

I also made the textures in Substance painter but because I still wanted a painterly look I also used handpainting.

Unfortunately, animations were a lot more difficult because Mixamo didn't accept this model. So for this mesh I made a very simple rig to add a bit of movement.
