Here are some of my best cartoon animations of this year. The goal was to produce animations with exaggerated body physics and expressions. Let me show you some!

Animation of Tom

This a cartoon animation of Tom, with this character, I was able to push the deformations to the maximum level. I used the bend and stretch of his body and I also duplicated some parts of his arms and legs to give the illusion of speed which is a very used technique in cartoon animations especially in 2D.

Here is the block that I made to set up the keyframes and the main in-betweens.

When I finished the blocking part I switched to spline and I tweaked my animation to get a smoother result and better timing.

Aang being scared

For this next animation, the goal was to express a change in the emotional state of the character. I decided to make him scared of a spider and jump in a cartoon way.

As usual, I started with a defined block so I can have all the important poses and a good timing settled.

And here is the final animation.

Body physics of Lethal Wipeout

Following with body physics these are two shots that I did for our 3rd year final project at ESMA with my team. The theme was a TV show about dangerous obstacles to pass through. I animated these shots with a character that I rigged myself. I used deformers on the members to express a cartoonish style and to emphasize the clumsiness of the character.

The texturing, lighting and rendering are not made by me.
