I found in 3D Art a great tool to share ideas, rebuild the past, or imagine better futures. I think visuals are the global language; they can translate complex project ideas into easy, catchy images understandable by everyone. Visualizing is communicating without limits. I think this is powerful!
This is Emma! Welcome to my showcase, carefully curated for The Rookies 2023.
The images were made during the Visualization Professional Course at School-ing in 2022. Most of them were refined and completed since the last entry. I hope you like them!
mediterranean atmosphere
The Neuendorf House was designed by the architects John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin on the island of Palma de Mallorca. The spaces are as simple and bare as possible. The challenge was to enhance the dialogue between organic nature and the powerful, austere, geometric building volume. The one-point perspective and completely balanced composition were created to celebrate this casual Mediterranean atmosphere.
After collecting some references with PureRed, I explored different moods, cameras, and lighting, such as daylight, sunset, dusk, cloudy, or night. The idea was to mindfully choose the shots in order to create a report, taking into account that they are part of a bigger story. I used different HDRI from 3D Collective applied on a Dome Vray Light, and I played with different parameters in the camera.
To create believable vegetation, I designed it as a real ecosystem with different species, scales, and heights of trees, bushes, and grasses. The landscape was created with Forest Pack using assets from Quixel Megascans and 3D Collective. The terrain was made with tools like Soft Selection, Paint Deformation, Shift, and Push. A noise modifier added detail in different scales to create variations, tints, and shadows that make the final result more interesting.
Another challenge in this project was to create a raw and worn materiality with photorealism. As we worked following a LWF, I used textures from Quixel Megascans as a base to create more complex PBR materials by adding dirt and scratch maps, and playing with ambient occlusion and composites to create more imperfections. Despite downloading the assets from 3DSky, I changed the materials to make them PBR and also cleaned the file with Sini Forensic.
The post-production was done in Photoshop. I did not use any render elements, only cryptomatte to create masks and a small touch of Camera Raw. Only in the last image I add the flowers in the foreground using the matte-painting technique.
timeless furniture set
Here is the furniture polygonal modeling practice. Through it, I have learned to do complex unwrap mapping. The goal was to create a rendered product with its set design. I chose the 305 Standard SP Chair designed by Jean Prouvé, surrounded by polished concrete flooring, white walls, and natural lighting made with direct Vray Sun in order to highlight the product.
I wanted to translate this classic design piece into space through a neutral and minimal set, creating a timeless design experience.
handcrafted interior spaces
CC House is a private residence in Barcelona tailored specifically for its owner by the interior design studio Astet. Stones, brass, and wood create the material palette, while carefully selected furniture pieces provide personality to the spaces. Some of the images are based on David Zarzoso works.
I started by creating a moodboard to plan the work. I studied the interior style and color palette, and created the material library for the project from scratch within a tight schedule, similar to a usual professional working environment.
The main complexity on this image was preparing the different maps of the floor, one by one, in order to make it similar to the photo reference, and discover the proportions of the molding of the ceiling. I really enjoyed doing the model of the two decorative pieces hanging on the wall, I feel like a digital artisan doing it!
I downloaded the lamp and the chair from 3DSky, but I remade the materials in order to convert them into a PBR workflow. The furniture designed by Astet it is fully modeled and mapped by myself.
I explore some close ups because I like the way this detail images show the essence of the space through details.

This image was created in group, with a very tight schedule to do it, only one week!
Hope you like my stuff, tell me what do you think about them!
