RUTE: The Spirit Dish

Embark on a journey as Rute, a villager deemed worthy to feed the Guardian a special meal so that his village can remain safe for another 15 years. Along the way, Rute will have to cross a forest filled with ruins of the past, puzzles and tormented souls that will try and prevent his objective at all costs.

Half Dozen Digital is a small team of seven friends from Calgary, California, Iowa, and Chile. With different specialties and experience, we decided to gather together and create a passion project in the form of our original game RUTE: The Spirit Dish over the course of seven months.

Our team is made up of students from VanArts, ArtCenter, GNOMON, and DMACC, however none of the listed schools are directly affiliated with this project. 

THE TRAILER: 

STORY SYNOPSIS: 

"The ever-providing Guardian protects the Woodland Village, a quaint community nestled deeply into the forest. The villagers praise this deity and revere it.

However, the Guardian only has the power to protect when a special offering is made. Once every 15 years, a single Spirit Melon ripens and becomes ready to harvest for a very important purpose: to be crafted into a dish that is able to satiate the Guardian’s hunger for another 15 years.

Rute, a young villager, has been chosen to undertake this sacred journey and must bring the Spirit Melon back to the Chef’s Kitchen no matter the obstacles. Rotting villagers banished by the Guardian will seek to sabotage his mission at any cost; Rute must find clever ways to avoid these creatures and keep the Melon safe for the sake of saving his village.

Upon reaching the village safely, Rute will be granted with the honor to bestow the Spirit Dish to the Guardian, earning a tender pat on the head from the forest spirit and eternal respect from his companions… or so the story has been told."
