Hello! My name is Sze Leen, a 20-year-old student from Malaysia. I'm currently attending Digital Media Design course at The One Academy, Kuala Lumpur. This is my first 3D motion graphic. I hope you'll enjoy my work.

Procreate ~ 3D Motion Video

Hi! I'm Sze Leen and I'll be showcasing my 3D motion graphics in this entry. This was one of my first-year projects. Enjoy!

[Rationale] The purpose of this project is to briefly demonstrate how you can simply use shapes in Procreate to effortlessly express your creativity. To do so, I focused on highlighting the Procreate tools (Paint, Smudge, Quickshapes, etc.) The structure of this project goes like this: planning, storyboarding, animatics, modelling, rendering, music composition, final product.

[Storyboard] Before starting with the project, I searched for inspirations from other motion graphics videos. I took references for colours, textures, objects, and the environment. I did some colouring for some scenes from the storyboard, which helps me to visualise how the final look could look like.

[Modelling] I used Cinema4D for the modelling and rendering. Before I start modelling, I first experiment with the texture. I played around a lot with the material settings (Reflectance, type: Beckmann). I have experimented with the roughness and bluriness to get the glass texture. For most part, I focused a lot on the composition of the objects because some objects will block the light source and make some parts quite dark.

[Rendering setting] Physical: add depth of field // sampling quality: Medium, Global illumination: primary method: QMC // Ambient Occlusion.

[Music composition] Music is not one of my strengths. I spent most of the time figuring out notes, taking inspiration from other music, experimenting with instruments, and hoping that it turned out good. I sought advice from my lecturers and classmates during the process. In the end, I pretty proud with how the music turns out

[Conclusion] This is my first experience with 3D motion graphics and my first time learning to use Cinema 4D. None of these efforts would have been possible without the help and advice of my lecturer and my classmates.

Thank you for stopping by. Bye!
