PETRICHOR
On a small island at sea, it's time for Petri, a young girl, to race against her yearly opponent, who is none other than the first rain of the monsoon season. This is my 2023 Graduation film at l'Ecole Pivaut.

Pétri
Pétri is an enthusiastic and tenacious girl. Once she has her sights on her goal, she doesn't relent until she gets there. She races against the rain every year, building both a competition and a friendship with it. In the end, does she just race the rain ? Or is she bringing it along to the rest of the island?

CONCEPTS AND EARLY DRAFTS
The lineless style came with the very first depiction of Pétri. Concepts were more painterly, then were adapted to a flatter style to help production along - as I was to work on the film (mostly) alone. Among the stylistic references for the film were Long way North ( Tout en haut du monde) and Calamity by Rémi Chayé, as well as Bee and Puppycat by Natasha Allegri, and Steven Universe by Rebecca Sugar.
