Rise of Undead

This is my final year project which showcases the revival of an undead king who has risen as a Necromancer Lord. Presented below are concepts of the Character, Character Summon, Environment, and Key Scene.

The Amber Domain

The Amber Domain is a collaborative project (each student has their own individual work). I will only be showcasing my work. 

This is a story of a Scholar trapped in a magical realm created by an evil deity. Her initial mission was to investigate the cause of why her townsfolk mysteriously disappeared long ago. Only after entering the Amber Domain and discovering the deity's intentions, she then changed her objective into defeating the deity and escaping the realm with the help of fellow survivors.

I present you the deity's character design, creature, prop, and mechanical design (weapon). The key scenes however are of the Scholar and the side characters.

The first key scene is the scholar summoning a portal to enter The Amber Domain which is the Deity's Realm. She conducted the ritual within the courtyard of her town.

The second key scene is when the Scholar has formed a group with the other survivors in the Amber Domain. They actively fight against the Deity's creatures.

Halmangu

Halmangu is a story of a young Korean shaman who wanted to put his mother's spirit to rest but has accidentally entered the spirit world instead. Due to this incident, a spirit guardian has been assigned to the Shaman and they now have to work together to return to the living world.

This project has concepts of the character, creature, and environment.

For the character I simplified Korean shaman attire and for the creature I merged a tortoise and a bird in multiple iterations. Overall I experimented to see which design and silhouette best suit the character and creature.

Only after the final design was selected and refined, I moved on to expressions and poses.

These thumbnails depict a pagoda with waterfalls as I wanted to have a water themed environment since the young shaman has entered the spirit world through water and he has a semi-aquatic spirit guide. 

Only after some thought, I decided to turn the chosen thumbnail into an underwater scene.

The pagoda designs (above) have been taken from real life Korean pagodas and I have incorporated some marine characteristics into it's design and into the environment.
