I'm glad to present my contribution to our first group project as fourth years at New3dge. This is a fan remake of Kingdom Hearts 1. It was really fun and I also learned a lot during this project, big thanks to my teammates!

Let's start with everyting related to Sora's weapon

This is what I did to make the weapon spawn depending on the active character.
The keyblade appears when attacking or launching a spell

There is two different type of hit. One for surfaces (on the left) and the other for enemies (on the right)

Using sphere traces and tags, I decide which Niagara system will spawn

Here is the trail of the weapon during attacks and an effect that I remade using Kingdom Hearts 3 as reference

The first three emitters are for the trail and the last four are used for the thrust attack

To make the trail start and stop where I want, I put sockets on the weapon and get them to have the distance between the top and bottom socket.
The branch is used to make the trail spawn depending on the active character

These are two effects linked to the characters. On the left is a character switch effect and on the right, a dust puff that appears when landing the character on the ground

The niagara system containing the character switch effect activates when changing character, there also is an overlay that is part of the effect

The dust puff effect is directly put inside the landing animation in a timed niagara effect notify

Then, here is every environment effect I made for this project

Firstly, the chests. They open thanks to a timeline and a trigger box that detects the player and a prompt on the screen appear to let the player know which button has to be pushed in order to open the chest.

On the left is the niagara system for the big chest and the one for the small chest is on the right

Here we have the electricity sparks

The candle that goes out when hit

Finally for the environments fx, the save point done in two phases

For the last effect, I remade Fira from Kingdom Hearts!

I made this spell so there is two different reactions depending on the hit target.
In the first case, it is an enemy which will receive a hit fx and flames will spawn too to simulate a burn effect.
In the second case, the fire spell will hit a surface and a decal will appear in addition to the normal hit 

I broke down this spell in three major parts: the cast, the fire ball and the impact

During the cast, the weapon also has a material overlay to add to the spell.

Here is the material overlay for the keyblade and how it activates depending on the character the color of the overlay will also change.
