Nibir Khan - 2022/2023
Hi!! Welcome to my Rookie of the year entry. My name is Nibir Khan, I specialize in environment art and materials. All the projects showcased in this entry are made in the second half of 2022 and first half of 2023.
Life is Strange
This is an environment I made last year as a uni project. It's inspired by Scott Willhite's work for Life is Strange: Before the Storm. All the assets are modelled on Maya, I used very little sculpting, most of the details are created on Substance Painter and Photoshop. The environment has been assembled on Unreal Engine 4 and rendered on UE5. The asset renders are made on Marmoset Toolbag3.
The Sentinel
The Sentinel is a texturing project i started few months ago for the RigB challenge here on The Rookies. This was done in collaboration with the Autodesk team. The modelling of the project was done by Jonathan Reilly, the rigging by Mike Waterworth and Paul Neale finally the texturing by me Nibir Khan.
Backstory
Meet John, a military-grade US Navy robot developed in 2045 by Quavic Industries. This particular model, RX-470, was once at the forefront of military technology but has since been discontinued and fully replaced by 2080 with a newer and better model. John was supposed to be dismantled in the coming years to reuse the parts for the RX-570. However, when an alien invasion happened, the robot was forgotten and abandoned until it was found by a survivor family. Despite its worn appearance, the family managed to put John back together and gave it a new lease on life. With its advanced sensors and weaponry, John proved to be an indispensable asset for the family. The robot patrolled the perimeter of their hideout, scanning for any signs of the enemy. It also helped the family gather resources, repair equipment, and keep morale high. Though the days were long and tense, the family knew that they had a fighting chance with their trusty robot John by their side.
