ELLENDIR - Concept Art 2023

First project I want to showcase with this entry, is my graduation project. My first goal when working on that project was to create a univers based on elves and nature and somehow showing different cultures. My main challenge was to define three different elven cultures and having a great variety of environments with their own color tones. Now, without further I go, let me introduce to you the universe of Ellendir.

"Ellendir" is intended to be an animated series in which we follow the story of the Heiress of Ellendir. Melting pot of two completly different peoples, she will have to take back her throne from a wicked elf that just want to get rid of those he finds impure. She will search for help, but during her journey, she will discover a threat way more dangerous than a simple coup d'état. The swamps, omnipresent since the beginning, extend their corruption over the different territories, killing every single living-being.

STORYBOARD

After trying to take back the throne for the first time, the little heiress accompanied by her new friend, a dark elf, they try to get out of the city. Chased by the guards, there is no way to escape Ellendir, until a white elf, an archer help them running away...

THE VILLAIN

             The city under the trees.

Since her birth, she knew Ellendir as the most charming city. Now, the imprint of a civil war is deeply marked in the landscape...

THE ESCAPE

                 Escaping from Ellendir to find the help of the Dark Elves.

KEIRR RY'YATRHE

                 The empire of rocks and roots.

For the Dark Elves, I wanted them to look strong as a rock and in harmony with their environment. But I also wanted them to look a little bit elegant because even if they are robust and brutal, they still are an elven people.

THE THREAT

                  During their journey, our little group will discover the threat that represents the swamps and the creatures that are born from it.

THE QUEST

                   Now that they have to defeat the threat of the swamps in addition to their initial quest, they will need three relics to annihilate the progression of the swamps and its corruption. One of them have already be find in the gulf of Dark Elves. The two next are located in the middle of the sand desertand the heart of the swamps...

                  Ancient city of te White Elf, heart of the swamps.

For this environment, I wanted it to be very oppresing, with a dark color palette in order to contrast with the previous territories, bright and joyful. I wanted it to look tortured by the corruption, mysterious as if something happened here a long time ago but has been forgotten now.

THE THIRD RELIC

                 ...They found it. The third and last relic. But at the exact moment they took it, a roar was heard right next to them. Lahenn, the heart of the swamps and the personification of hatred, awoke...

CONCLUSION

                 First of all, thank you for taking the time to discover my project ! This has been a wonderful journey and I learn a lot wether it is 3D block out or quick and rough animation. I also discovered a lot of different culture while doing researches for my principal influences. I'm happy about how far I came with this project and it also allowed me to take concsious of what I need to work on, but mostly what I like to do the most.
