My name is Elin Svaröd and I am a student at YRGO in Gothenburg, Sweden. These are some of the projects I have created during my first year - learning the ways of architectural visualization. A new chapter in life and a new way of exploring my creativity. Hope you like my work!

Urban Architecture

A collaboration with the visualization company Pixelflakes. The breif was to use Revit files and PDFs from one of Pixelflakes previous projects and use it to create our own concept and visualization. The project that we were to visualize was "Kirklees cultural heart" in Huddersfield, UK. The area contained a museum, a gallery, a library, a foodhall, a venue, a garden and a green area. The camera view I went with was focusing on the backside of the gallery. For my concept I wanted to aim for a spring season vibe, where the sun is out and the air is cool. The trees are either in bloom or just starting to grow leaves, and with lots of spring flowers in the flower beds. I wanted to bring something more to the narrative and connect the building and the plaza outside. Bring a little of the inside to the outside - a tease of what's waiting inside the gallery. Therefore it felt only fitting to create a street exhibition. It also gave me the opportunity to place people in a believable way.

The Villa

The brief was to model a villa, based on drawings and floorplans provided by Alingsås Huspaket. We were to create attractive and accurate images of the villa and place it somewhere in Scandinavia. Some artistic freedom was given when it comes to choice of light and materials. For this project we were introduced to some new tools - Forest pack, Rail Clone and V-ray. I chose a classic "turn of the century"- house, where the materials and surrounding area was inspired by the Swedish province of Dalsland. I wanted to create this very classic type of house, in a slightly untraditional set of materials. The traditional wooden facade was something I wanted to preserve, but in a iron vitriol treated wood. This in harmony with a red brick roof and red windows and doors. As many houses in Dalsland I wanted to place this villa at the edge of the forest, close to nature. With a big backyard surrounded by a mix of trees and greenery.

The Hotel

Our very first project working in teams. The brief was to come up with a hotel concept based on a specific place in the world and make sure to capture its culture and climate. Every team were to deliver visualizations of three rooms (one per person) - rooms that would give a good view of the hotel. My team were assigned Tuscany, Italy and I chose to visualize the reception area of the hotel. To us, it felt only fitting to build our concept on an old vineyard estate in the rolling hills of tuscany - the dream image of Italy. We picked the area of Siena and used the citys medieval architecture and materials as a base for our concept. A city full of history and centuries of old food traditions. Our key materials follows the typical tuscan interior, with stone, plaster and wood in warm colors. Rustic charm and simplicity.

The Renovation

The brief was to find a real estate ad - a home in need of renovation, and highlight its potential through visualizations. The focus was to furnish and use suitable materials, based on exsisting architecture and a potential target group. We were assigned to create two different visualizations from two different rooms, using photos and floorplans from the ad. I chose to work with a combined dining -/ living room and a bedroom. I wanted to preserve the essence of the house and keep the wooden floors and use the same kind of windows. As a target group I wanted to focus on the couple who have just bought their very first house. A place to create a home and start a family. I chose to go with a modern vibe, with colors of grey and green mixed with wooden materials.

Abstraction

My very first project. The brief was to interpret a piece of art of our choosing and turn colors, shapes and the feeling of the artwork into a room/studio. I chose to interpret "Branch of the Seine near Giverny" by Claude Monet, 1897.
