Wang Jia Hui | 2D & 3D Animation Demo Reel | Rookie Awards 2023
This submission is a compilation of my animations as a student studying this for a year in college. Have a nice day and feel free to enjoy!
DEMO REEL (2D Animation)
This demo reel showcases a few of my 2D animation. During the time when I was animating one of them, it was also the time where is my first time starting animation. Along with it, I have learnt to draw frame by frame with consistency and also colour testing in the software. One of the video is actually a promo video, but was included with a 2D animation. Although is not part of an animation category, I still included in for the 2D animated character showcase. It was tiring but fun nonetheless.
In the promo video, it presented with a 2D animated character is a character from a game called Sky: Children of the Light, created by thatgamecompany. She doesn't have a name, but as a character, she is generally known as a sky kid. I created here having a simple outfit (default outfit in the game) with a pigtail hair to signify the iconic symbol of the character in the game with a playful personality.
Software that was used is Adobe Animate; whereas the promo video with animation, other software that were used are Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Affect Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.
DEMO REEL (3D Animation)
The demo reel here presents some of the 3D animations that I have did within a year in college. When animating them, I have learnt body mechanics and also facial expressions along with mouth syncing. Not only that, the software that was used is quite nice to work around, is convenient yet also needed to learn technical side alittle. Overall although is tedious abit, but somewhat comfortable abit in doing them.
Pantomime: Boo (WIP & Key frames)
Dialogue: Num Num (WIP & Key frames)
A mini fact about Dialogue: Num Num, the dialogue was at first a dialogue from Ratatouille. However after some thinking, I decided to go for another dialogue from a cartoon show - The Amazing World of Gumball. From there, I started to have some idea plans popping in my mind to sketch out and proceed along.
The only software was used for these animations is Autodesk Maya.
This is the conclusion of my animations. At first, animation isn't something I have considered when I was learning to do art. After some chit-chat with my friend, is when I started to learn and do animation with fun and have a mind full of imagination with movement. Along the way, I also met friends who are chill and fun and also supported me. I don't show it, but I'm really grateful with it deep down.
Hope you enjoy watching my artwork as much as you like, thanks thanks ye!!
