Entry Rookies 2019 Tristan Gybels
In this overview I will show you the projects that I'm the most proud of. Mostly containing tech art and real-time FX. I hope you will appreciate them!
Mechanical Rig
Mechanical mesh rig made with Maya. Considering it was my first time rigging it took me 13 hours to model and 45 hours to rig it. Modelling was done in 3ds Max.
Chimney smoke FX - Unreal Engine
This is a smoke material/FX that I made In Unreal Engine.
I have spend about 14 hours to create this effect.
You can find a lot about my project on this forum:

The specific functionalities are:
-Camera facing on Z-axis.
-UV (U) offset depending on camera horizontal orientation.
-Derived normals form texture for fake lighting.
- No flipbooks (only 1 texture)
Material breakdown
ArchViz scene made in Unreal.
The lounge chair was a free model on the internet, however I fixed some issues and re-textured it. It took me 40 hours to create this project (+build time)
FX/Tech Art - Drone Tanks
DroneTanks
... is a third-person fast paced multiplayer shooter game I made with a group of 5 in 300 hours.I created all the effects and I modeled, textured, rigged and animated the tanks (Not all animations included to the game). I was also responsible for collision and lighting optimizing + a few props...At the beginning of this course I proposed this game with a top-down demo version I made in Unity during my Summer holidays. And we continued from this idea: https://liefpiejn.itch.io/droneencounter

FN Scar 17 - PBR
This is a game ready PBR rifle.
Modeled in 3ds Max and textured in Substance Painter.
High quality screenshots are made in Unreal to proof it's game ready quality.
EelMeal - Game scripting
EelMeal is a split-screen multiplayer game that I made in Unreal Engine. The purpose of the game is to learn to control your fish and to fight each other to death.
I spent around 100 hours on this project.
It was my first time experimenting with blueprints and it was incredibly fun!
