The First Step

Project: First step

This project is for me to test myself and what I have learned in my years in Nanyang Polytechnic. The project duration is about 1 month and a half and i wanted to see how much work I could do in that span of time given. 

Goals

What I hope to achieve is to create polished concept art with vibrant characters and environments. The concept art is meant primarily for Animation, hence they are more character expression and silhouettes exploration. But I do intend on creating more props and environment works and poses with storytelling which I have yet to make. I learnt a lot creating this project and hope to make more compelling characters and world in the future. Overall I’m happy with the works I’ve done.. please enjoy.

Evergreens is a small tribe of people that have the ability to heal, regenerate, and cure illnesses at a high potency. This makes them live longer and as the age goes by, their power grows even stronger making them have super strength, clear mind and youthful. Despite their ability they live a simple life. Away from prying eyes as they are once hunted for their blood as it is said to give whoever that drinks it, eternal youth…

Maple the Fool

Maple is a capable individual that has skill and knowledge that has been taught in the tribe… but she always worries and at the same time, is curious about the outside world and ponders beyond her home on whether she is ready or not to take the first step…

Voogdesian the Enduring 

Voogdesian origin is unknown. It has been by Maple’s side since the first day she arrived in this world. It is very protective of her. Though it is unable to speak. It is capable of rational and human emotion.

Steera the Mellifluos

Steera is a child gifted with ways with the animals, in particular with the home species in their forest the "Giant Isopods". she can communicate with them using her flute as a means. She Is soft and gentle the complete opposite of her sister 

Isla the troublemaker

The tribe will take place in a rainforest where they reside beside an enormous tree. With an open space around the the tree.

Some of the characters are made for different regions. But I decided to work on one tribe first 

The mask are meant for protection as it is the only part of their body they cannot regenerate. they are inspired based on the asaro mudmen tribes 

How it began

using the first faction. you can see i used this as the base concept idea and branch outward from there

This is a personal fun project where i created factions using simple shapes. I really enjoy making each characters. and it was well received.
