Plague Tale Requiem: Long Live the King Fan DLC
This DLC Concept recreates a courtyard of the Tower of London in the style of the game Plague Tale Requiem. Made by 12 people over the course of 12 weeks. All of the work in this project excluding sound was made from scratch by our team. External resources such as mega scans or photo scanning were NOT used.
Narrative
"The peasants have had enough of the cruelty of the monarchy, while they die of a terrible plague their rulers lie comfortably in their kingdoms doing nothing to help. What originated as a refuge to hide from the plague turned into the peasants storming the Tower of London, looting the building and burning the dishonourable monarch alive."

Technical Decisions
Level Streaming and the use of Perforce, allowed our team to work seamlessly and simultaneously on the project, tweaking lighting, props, FX or mechanics independently without overwriting others' work. This technique breaks apart the level into multiple sub levels which, when 'always loaded', can be checked out and worked on by individuals to make tweaks, then checked back into perforce and synced with other changes; this adds each team member's changes to the other's project.
This project runs in Unreal Engine 5.1 making use of both Nanite and Lumens. As a team, we wanted to push the project visuals as much as possible, therefore we decided to use the latest updates for Unreal which allowed us to achieve greater levels of realism in our scene, avoid LODs popping in and out, as well as achieve real-time indirect lighting that would increase the quality of our scene. We overcame issues with framerate as a result of Lumens causing lag in our scene, by tweaking settings on individual lights as well as removing the ability for most point lights to cast dynamic shadows.
