WEBBED

A group IP which I took part in for Concept Design class in The One Academy. This story revolves around Susan, the genius yet arrogant hacker, and her friend Nate trying to stop a villain lurking around the “internet world”, who’s stealing identities from their victims through unethical means.

Similar to the concept of a multiverse, the “internet world” materializes users as their online avatar through a device, thus making it prone to affect the user’s in the real world if anything happens to their avatar. This story takes place in the “internet world”.

I got the chance to design the deuteragonist of the story Nate.

For Nate, he has an overall serious demeanor, he works things out carefully and is extremely cool-headed, unlike Susan. Therefore I tried to make his design “bulkier” to show a sense of protection, defensiveness and reliability.

Mist Walker is the minions lurking around in the villain’s lair. Their main design was based on a spider and I tried to emphasize the shape language of a triangle on the design by adding more spikes/ thorns on the creature to make it seem intimidating and dangerous.

- Prop and Vehicle Design -

Abbadon was a hoverbike that existed in the depths of the villain’s lair, but it was used by Nate as the story progressed. It was also the first time I used 3D to help out with the design process, it was a very fruitful learning experience.

- Environment Design -

I was tasked to design the environment of an infested lab, lying deep in the villain’s lair. I am able to utilize 3d to help out with composition and perspective, and it was a really fun experience!

Glamour

Glamour is a stylized IP I made in basic concept design class. This story revolves around a fantastical circus who appears only at full moon, attracting and entertaining lost and lonely children. It was very challenging as this whole project is heavily stylized with exaggerated proportions and styles, but it was a great learning experience.

The Midnight Circus, built in the outskirts of town shines upon the dark skies and full moon. Laughter of children are heard as the cheerful music swirls the secluded circus.

Apotelesm

Xun and M.A.G, two protagonists set on a journey to prove the existence and find out the truth behind the disappearance of a legendary group who used to roam the lands, building intricate and otherworldly buildings wherever they went…

Here is a personal IP I made named Apotelesm. It was a new experience and a tough challenge combining steampunk aesthetics and traditional chinese astronomy together to make a fantasy setting. Many development sketches of the character designs were made to find the right looks for the characters.

Xun is a mechanic who’s obsessed with her craft and a lone believer in the true existence of the legendary group. Thus, she makes it her life mission to prove their existence, in hopes to find a way to replicate their intricate creations.

Mechanical. Astro-Project. Guardian is a cyborg who lost their memories due to their extremely damaged body. Found and fixed by Xun, they commit themselves into helping Xun with her mission to prove the existence of the legends.

- Environment Design -

An environment I made for my personal IP.

Environment Concept Art

Here is a compilation of works I made for matte painting class! It was a very fruitful learning experience of ways to render an environment

Room 307

Finally, here is a storyboard animatic that I worked on about Detective Mia trying to find a missing child last seen in this abandoned condominium. Before the animatic, I was required to learn how to plan the action and storyboarding, and it was really fun!

Thank you for viewing and coming by!
