Good day!

I am pleased to present to you my Concept Art project dedicated to the book 'Hyperon'.

My goal was to transform the words on the page into eye-catching, visual images to bring Hyperon's story to life. I studied the book to create a colour palette, visual style and a set of characters and details that captured the essence of the story.

For this project, I created three characters, two of the protagonists: Kassad and Moneta to the villainous antagonist of the saga: the scary Shrike, each with a unique and distinctive look. I will attach a brief description of them from the book, to confront with the final concept art:

Kassad: Colonel Fedmahn Kassad was tall [...] and wore the black FORCE uniform, devoid of rank and decoration. [...] dark-skinned, clearly in good physical shape, he was slender and snappy as a whip, with muscles evident on his shoulders, wrists and neck. The small, dark eyes, similar to the lens of a primitive camera, did not miss a detail. The face was all angles, shadows, planes, facets [...] carved in cold stone. The thin stubble lingering on the jaw accentuated the harshness of the features like blood on the blade of a knife.

Moneta: Moneta is "the most beautiful woman [Kassad] had ever seen". Well, he must like them strong and silent: she's in her late twenties, hardly ever speaks, and might not even be human. Kassad doesn't even know her name, calling her Mystery, until she reveals that she can be called either Moneta or Mnemosyne.

Shrike: As in a dream, Kassad saw the four arms, the long, retractable blades, the profusion of thorns on the throat, the forehead, the wrists, the knees and the whole body; but not once did his gaze leave the multifaceted eyes, blazing with a red flame that made the sun pale and darkened the day, reducing it to a blood-shade.

My aim was to create a visual universe that would accompany and enhance the reading of the novel. Each drawing was designed to capture the imagination, to make the reader feel immersed in the narrative.

I am excited about this project and look forward to seeing how my work will help bring Hyperon's story to a wider audience.

Thank you for the opportunity to present my work.

Best regards,

Anna Pesce
