"À feu et à sang" is a video game cinematic set in an alternate history version of the French Revolution, where the dauphin Louis XVII returns to seek revenge against the revolutionaries by unleashing the monstrous beast of Gévaudan on Paris. It is a short film created using computer-generated imagery (CGI) in a realistic style, produced on Unreal Engine 5, combining horror and action in an original narrative. Inspired by gothic games like Bloodborne and those using an alternative version of history like Bioshock, the short film takes place in an alternate version of Revolutionary Paris and draws on the technologies of the time to give it a steampunk look. In this setting, more fantastical elements are added, but the creators strive to stay close to history by using modified versions of real-life characters, such as the executioner Charles-Henri Sanson. These elements allow the creators' universe to stand out by offering an original setting for their story. The project was created by a team of eleven graduating students from NAD UQAC as part of their final year project.
