Shingashina District

"While the vegetation took over the place, the whisper of the wind recalled their memories. There is still beauty in despair."

This is an environment inspired by a concept art of the Attack on Titan ending theme song, but changing certain things to give it my personal touch.

I have used 3Ds Max, Blender, Zbrush, Speed Tree, Substance painter, Marmoset Toolbag and Unreal Engine 5.

To create the enviroment, I have created different assets, which I have instantiated by the scene. Others, like the beams, have been taken from Brige (UE). For the creation of these assets, I have followed the traditional process: block out, high poly, low poly, Uvs and bake, texturizing and finally their placement in Unreal. For the walls, I have created a mask material, which has allowed me to create with a single material, different breaks going through different layers such as brick, cement and stucco. The walls, the steps and the pavement, can be rotated 180 degrees to show the opposite part also worked and not give a feeling of repetition.

Regarding the lights, I have used different point lights to support the directional light, trying to accentuate different plants to give it a more mystical look, and illuminate some areas that the directional light did not illuminate. I also included dust and fog effects to make the environment more realistic.

This is the enviroment creation process. As always, I have created a level and different sublevels within it. I do this to be able to have the scene organized. About the block out, I have been putting the walls to create the structure. By having the walls by modules, I have been able to create different shapes and houses, with only three modules. After defining the main props that would be seen in the key render, I started detailing the unique props. Once the whole process is finished, continue with the lights until you reach the final render.

Enchanted Bottle

“The potion of immortality, or better known as the potion of death. Many have been those who have tried their luck drinking from it, and all of them have died after doing so. Although the potion actually gives you immortality, it only grants this gift to those who are good at heart. Still no one knows what it is to be good at heart. Nobody but me. I am willing to drink from it even if it costs me my life, that is if I can find it”.

Like any project, we have to start for the begining. I did a block out using 3Ds Max. And then I started to define the whole asset.

Then I took it to Zbrush, and started to detail it. I used some own alphas for the trunck, did it in zbrush too. For the ground I did a material in Substance Designer and I used it as a height map.

The next step was did the low poly, UVs and the bakes. And finally I started with the textures in Substance Painter. I enjoyed a lot this part!

To end this project, I started with the composition of the prop. I combined the diferents mushrooms to create new ones, and I did the flowers and grass in 3Ds Max. The final renders was did it in Marmoset Toolbag.

Abandoned church

"When humanity took its last breath, an abandoned church held the last hope that could save everyone"

This is one of the projects I did in my master at Voxel School. It is made in Unreal Engine 5 and has different light compositions.

Presentation video of the enviroment. The texture of the floor , was made in substance painter.

Time-lapse of the differents lights compositions.

This is the enviroment creation process. This environment has more unique assets. After doing the block out, I began to gradually introduce the final assets. I tried different textures on the walls and settled on a smoother one without so much noise. The columns, the arches, the windows and their frames can be rotated 180º so that the repetition is not seen. Finally, I finished implementing the lights well and made different sets to show different times of the day.

Christmas Snow Globe

"While the children opened their presents the melody of the snow globe flooded the environment with some beautiful and soft notes"

This prop was made at Christmas. I used the following programs: 3Ds Max, Zbrush, Substance Painter and Marmoset Toolbag fo the renders.

Low poly and assets of the prop.
