Tounissoux Viktor - Material Art - 2022/2023 Showcase
Hey, I'm sharing my work with you for the Rookie Awards 2023 ! I'm training on material art and looking forward to work in this domain. Hope you guys will like it :) .
Hello everyone,
Here is my participation for the Rookies Awards 2023, it's the 1st time for me.
My name is Viktor Tounissoux and I am Material Artist. I converted professionally in a self-taught way. Fascinated by environments and particularly their detailed textures, I fell in love with the creation of materials on substance designer.
Old wooden boat pulley
I've made this old wooden boat pulley to improve my workflow in Zbrush and Substance Painter, and also to practice the complete workflow for creating it.
Here are the steps I followed :
1. Blocking in Blender
2. Sculpting and additional texture details in ZBrush
3. Retopology of the high poly and UV unwrapping in Blender
4. Asset baking in Substance Painter (by mesh name)
5. Texturing by creating my own textures without using any SmartMaterial
This exercice made me understand/learn how to :
- Texture and sculpt in a realistic way with Zbrush
- Use layers and morph target (which came very handy)
- Create my own procedural textures in Substance Painter
Chesterfield Leather
The prop was provided by Flore Lemoine, to put my material in situation.
The design is a mix based off of multiple references of Chesterfield armchairs
I imported the mesh in Substance Painter and then applied on it my material made on Substance Designer beforehand.
I made a simple baking and added some details on Substance Painter, just to make the imported material fit better with the prop.
