by MayurGawade on 4 Apr 2023 for Rookie Awards 2023

Hi everyone! My name is Mayur Gawade and I'm a 3D Artist. I am motivated to learn and create so that one day I can be a part of an amazing project and work alongside great artistic minds. My motivation is the drive that comes from creating art that tells a story. Check out my work, hope you all like it.

Project 01 - The Guardian (Personal project)

After learning through numerous online platforms like Udemy, Elementza, youtube, and a few others. I developed a comfort level with applications like Autodesk Maya and Substance Painter. I wanted to put all this knowledge to use, so I came up with a project where I created a sci-fi robot that took inspiration from "Transformers" and "Pacific Rim"

Character description:-

A robot designed by humans, to protect civilization against alien attacks. These armored robots are powered by the nuclear core on their chest. Guardians are to fight huge alien monsters and therefore every guardian commands battalions of killer droid armies. Guardians possess some of the common hero qualities like leadership, teamwork, loyalty, problem-solving, etc

Final Output

● Modelling stages of different parts of the model. Modelling done completely in Autodesk Maya

● Wireframe Renders

Project 02 - Wizards Workstation(Online Learning)

This project was carried out while taking Udemy online 3D courses by instructor Bhaumik Patel. After studying, I developed my own version of the project, which is entirely distinct from the ones covered in the online courses, taking it a step further I even animated it. This project taught me how to model props, handle texturing, and most importantly create realistic lighting.

Final Output

Project 03 Cartoon Character (Online learning)

This project is a result of another Udemy online 3D course by artist Nalini Kanta Jena. After studying, I developed my own version of the project that is entirely distinct from the ones covered in the online courses. In this project, I developed my modeling and substance painting skills while creating an organic cartoon character in Autodesk Maya

Final Output

Modeling Stages

Project 04 Advance hard surface  modeling (Online learning)

I followed many modeling courses in my journey but this advanced course from Elementza is where I realized I am learning to model like a pro. I learn about edge flow, how to retain a shape with a restricted number of edge loops, and how to utilize Maya effectively for complex modeling. I gained the self-assurance I needed from this course to launch “The Guardian”, my own venture.

Final Output

Project 05 Concept Creature Sculpting (Online learning)

I started learning Zbrush after honing my modeling techniques in Maya. In my bachelor's program, I used clay to explore sculpting, but seeing artists use Zbrush has always piqued my interest in digital sculpting. I began my educational path with Pablo Munoz Gomez's "The Ultimate Zbrush Guide," an online course. I've only been taking the training for two weeks, but I've already learned a lot. The finished product will be my version of the course, to which I will add additional components and demonstrate my learning.

On-going project...

Project 06 Dinosaur Sculpting (Personal project)

A personal project where I'm parallelly applying what I've learned from Pablo Munoz Gomez's "The Ultimate Zbrush Guide" course to sculpt a dinosaur. I love Jurassic Park, and I've always considered sculpting such beasts with clay and digitally too.

I am aware that I have not fully mastered Zbrush to begin sculpting complex shapes, but I think sometimes we can do things differently, because it's all about learning, enjoying, and creating.

On-going project...

Thank you for your time 😊
