The scorpion is a character design project part of the 'Beneath The Badlands'. It's one of my senior student projects that my role is a character artist. My primary assignment was to create a horrifying scorpion for the game's visual appearance. The project gave me a lot of opportunities and feedback into integrating my work and I felt this creature paid off and helped me refine my skills as a character artist.
The initial route of the art style is stylized realism. It uses oil painting techniques to create an enrichment of color stylization. The texture is mainly hand-painted and minimum procedural textures were used. The purpose of the scorpion being mutated is the design of the enemies when players be fighting against the horrors of disgusting creatures to kill.
Side Note: I am specifically submitting as the modeler, concept sketch, retopology, and textures of the scorpion!
