Nema the Aspin is a story about a young woman dealing with stress and her pet aspin’s attempt to defeat a monster that’s hurting its owner.

The film portrays the use of aspins for animal-assisted interventions in the Filipino home setting.

An "aspin" or "askal" is a Filipino term for mixed breed dogs in the Philippines. The term "aspin" is a portmanteau of "asong Pinoy" or "Philippine dog" while the term "askal" is a portmanteau of "asong kalye" or "street dog."

Aspins are often stray dogs that many consider as lesser than purebred dogs. This film aims to portray aspins as effective pet therapy just many pets in the world.
