A collection of character work from my portfolio, I aim for a realistic style and have a passion for horror and fantasy themes. I have decided to showcase my Grads in Game entry, Wasteland Scavenger, and my Final Masters Project for university, The Murder.

Hello Everyone!

This is my first time participating in The Rookies and I'm excited to showcase my work to everyone!! Below is some of the most recent character work I have done in the last year. All of my work is done in real time and I follow a PBR workflow.

My ArtStation

Wasteland Scavenger Breakdown:

This project was my entry for Grads in Games Search for a Star, though I came back to the project after submission and redid the textures on the clothing and lighting as I wanted a polished end result for my portfolio. This project was done over 7 weeks.

This was the first project I included the weapons, as I've always found them daunting to create. Since finishing this project it's given me the confidence with modelling additional props for the character! This was also the first time I used a face scan for the pore details in Substance Painter.

The concept is by Marcus Fernihough, he has since deleted his ArtStation and I couldn't find his socials so I can't link to him!

Base mesh build up and blockout, looking back on the base mesh I would lengthen the legs or bring the hips up so the body doesn't look as elongated.

The Murder Breakdown:

For this project I wanted to create a fan art character based on the game Dead by Daylight, and chose to model a character from Joshua Culp's concept.

This took 12 weeks to create. The biggest challenge I came across was dealing with the poncho! Because of how intricate the folds were, I had to try different techniques for the retopology so the bake would come out correctly with as little artifacts as possible. It also was a bit of a pain when it came to rigging and painting the skin weights but I got there in the end!

Overall,

Each project I do teaches me a lot through the trial and error, I try to show what I've learnt through improvement on each model and hopefully that shows!

Thank you for looking through my projects and for your time!
