Character and Costume Work
Hello! My name is Athena Cole and I’m a recent 3D Character Art graduate from the UK. My background is in real-world costuming and prop-making, which tends to be the focus of my work. These are several pieces I developed during my studies, with the goal of creating believable, detailed characters optimized for games.
Raising a Family
The result of the final project for my master’s degree in 3D Game Art. I sculpted my DnD characters: a grandmotherly necromancer and the skeleton familiar she dotes upon. Game-ready (~136k verts total) and rendered in Unreal Engine 5.
I took them through most stages of the game art pipeline: invented their designs, created the clothing in Marvelous Designer, sculpted face/body/accessories in ZBrush, did basic rigging/posing, retopology, and UVs in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, lit and rendered in UE5.
The elements that were not scratch-made are the skeleton base mesh, which is a wonderful freebie by Fabricio Works, and the environment, which I assembled with modular pieces from Megascans.
