11 - FINAL RENDERS

I went for something quite different from my very original thoughts.

What if the resistance were taking revenge on the robots and breaking them down for spare parts?

For some reasons the Youtube embedding won't work, so here are the links to the turntables, if anyone would be so kind as to watch them:

Time to iterate!

7 - Texturing and Render Update

I started iterating on my last notes and am getting closer to where I want it to be. I will entirely change the floor though as I don't think it's a good fit.

6 - Material Update - Cotton Canvas

Here is a Cotton Canvas material that I made in Substance Designer and is purposed to texture the bag/pouch on the left leg of Rig.B.

4 - Critique

First full render in Arnold. First milestone, everything has a material on it.

I wrote critiques for myself and I can now start iterating. This setup will be used for beauty shots and a turntable. I started making separately a full composition to place the robot in. More on this soon.

If anyone would like to add any further critique and feedback, you are more than welcome to!

3 - Texturing the Bust

I started by texturing the bust and the head and pelvis.

The first pictures below are renders in Iray, and the row pictures below those are render tests in Maya Arnold.

This pose and render style will most likely be used for my turntable.

2 - Re-UVing and Up-Resing the model

I reworked the UVs of the model to ensure the texel density was consistent across the entire robot. I then proceeded to re-layout the shells onto more UDIMs tile so that I could have more texturing resolution.

I also upresed the model to get smoother curves for baking.

Because the meshes are now denser and onto a lot more UVs, I split the robot onto separate Substance Painter files (Bust, Legs, Arms, bits and pieces).

1 - Mood board

I want to to set Rig.B in a forest setting, broken down and weathered.

I am a huge fan of Simon Stålenhag and I want to convey a desaturated and dreamy feeling to my final piece.
