This is my entry for the texture contest! For this contest the concept are the Guardians from the Legend of Zelda BotW. Let me know what you think. :) Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish the work.

Details

I'm almost there!
I'm adding other layers of detalis, (made with alphas I create with Photoshop, using the icons that I found online).

For the next two days I'll use paint tools on Substance Painter to settle the texture.

Alphas and Fabric

It's been a while since I posted an update! But I'm still working on Rig.B.

I used a reference for the Sheikah alphabet and I create some alpha (in Photoshop) to costumize the fabric pattern. I'm happy with the results.

First Details

I finally finished the first layer of details.
I change the material of the bag, i preffered a fabric instead of leather. The fabric reminds me Legend of Zelda and it gives me the vibes of Sheikah.

Second step is add much more details (including colors variation and adding Guardians and Sheikah symbols).

I still have a lot to do! :)

Little Update: Details

During these days I've started again to studying and working, so I have less time to spent on textures.
Little by little I'm inserting details, starting from roughness and color variation.

I have also corrected the materials a bit, making the black parts look like an hard plastic material.

There's still a lot of work to do!


Update - 11 Jan 2023

Base Texture

I finished putting the basic materials and I'm satisfied with the result!
I tried to keep the colors of the palettes and concept as similar as possible.

I rendered this images in Substance Painter, with the Tomoco Studio (HDRI).

I made two different types of metal, with colors that resemble the Guardians. I did the same for the emission.
For the joints of the robot and how to handle the elements I based on the references.

The next step is to add the first detail layer.

Trying out the colors

In these days I'm experimenting with colors, to understand which palette works better.
I'm keeping the Guardians from The Legend of Zelda as a reference. I'd like to get as close as possible to those colors!

Maybe I'll keep the tubes more reddish, rather than orange or blue and I'll let the leather's color more orange rather than brown.

Reference and Concept


First I started looking for references to realize my idea. I needed to figure out how to divide the different colors and materials so I got inspiration from multiple media and characters (from Metroid Dread to Love Death and Robots).

I thought a lot about the concept and what I would like to achieve as a final result.
So I decided to refer on the guardians from Breath of the Wild.

For my textures I'd like to include patterns that resemble the stencils and stickers you see on cars (but I don't know yet if I'll insert these details on my work).

I also looked for references for the realization of the materials, like iron with scratches, ecc.
