Final Words

This project means the world to me as it is my first time entering a contest as well as committing to a serious personal project. Despite having many difficulties trying to manage my time between this and school-works, I undoubtedly learnt so much and am proud of not only the final product, but also the learning process behind it. I developed problem solving skills as well as how to ensure a proper workflow cross-platform. I also challenged myself with modeling something I have never done before (a character!) and I loved seeing bits and pieces of my knowledge coming together. This was a great experience, and I am looking forward to many more!

I began blocking in the model and adding some edge loops to define the hard edges. Ran into some problems with the lack of references from the back view so I will have to figure out how the crane would be connected to machine. But other than that, I am excited to see this project slowly coming together!

Concept by wonderful Kevin Merriman

I chose this concept because having a robot whose sole purpose is to do something mundane such as make a cup of hot chocolate feels adorable! This would be a challenge for me as I have never modeled objects of this complexity (especially the hands) but I am excited to take on this project from start to finish.

Permission from the artist to use his concept.
