My cat Monkey spends most of her day right next to me, on my desk. For this contest, I thought about what her capabilities could be if I were to re-imagine her as a robot. Here is my current working concept:
Monk-E

Reference gathering & explorations
Real-life reference of Monkey in her natural element, soon to be transformed into the robot, Monk-E.
I gathered references of robots that fit the look and feel I'm going for. This helped me define the various visual characteristics I want to include in my robot design.
At this point, I was able to work out what these characteristics could be. Cartoony forms and proportions with empathetic glowing eyes. Small and compact with a distinct cat appearance. Elegant sci-fi hard surfaces that look intricate, indicating the robot is for advanced users/working professionals.
I will use these as my early concept design starting point, as there are things I really like about them, but also things I would like to build on and improve upon.
For example: I like the overall form/silhouette of the Midjourney generated cats. The head-to-body proportions also feel right for this robot. The eyes have a sense of depth to them like large camera lenses with lights inside which is a really nice look. Areas that are lacking and will need work are the mouth and leg areas. I would like to add whiskers in some capacity, perhaps vents or fiber-optic wires. I would also like the cat's toes to be visible to showcase the Glowbeans (infrared light therapy) capabilities. Lastly, my final concept should have a color scheme or patterns that match my cat Monkey.
