POPSHOT!

involuntary drugging, also known as drink spiking, is on the rise, and no solutions to prevent it are working.

40% of people, ages 18-24, have been spiked or know someone who has been spiked.

Popshot is a fun & unique way of drinking, that will efficiently reduce the risk of being spiked, while creating a brand new club or bar experience. Popshots are shots, mixed drinks, or cocktails, packaged in a biodegradable and edible seaweed cover that protects your drink.

So, what is Drink Spiking? When someone puts drugs or ADDS alcohol into your drink without you knowing or permission.

We aim to positively impact social change since by preventing drink spiking, we are preventing human trafficking, as well as minimizing sexual assault, minimizing drug trade, and promoting night safety to help bars/clubs attract more customers while offering a better overall experience.

Our research shows that current drink spiking prevention products are not working. Testing kits cannot test for all drugs, lids aren't socially acceptable, and smart coasters are sensitive and unpractical. We found that victims usually get spiked around the bar, and sometimes the bartender is involved in the crime. Yet, after an incident, the victim when seeking for help from the police and hospitals, is sent back and forth with no real help offered. Police say there is no evidence, and hospitals can't detect the drugs if some time has passed. For that reason, we need to solve the problem, before the spiking happens. A solution depending on the bartender was not viable, so we sealed the drinks! But we don't want to eliminate the bartender from the scene either, that's why our solution complements the bar and creates a brand new experience and a safer option for customers to enjoy.

The Popshot ecosystem consists of three components.

First, an app just for the bar/club owner, to order in bulk, and track his machine's activity. The app will send notifications and reminders of when a Popshot flavor is running low, or when maintenance is due.

Second, the Popshot vending machine can be used by up to three people at the same time and is located inside a bar or club for customers to not have to wait for the bartender's attention, and order their Popshots, that are in display as well, with ease.

Third, the Popshot itself. It is made of a seaweed protective shield that is edible and sustainable, and provides a fun and new experience when it pops in your mouth with amazing flavor!
