We are CGI/Animation students studying at NMIT. We were working on projects for our classes over the past eight weeks and at the last minute learned about the opportunity to show our work on The Rookies. So, we combined our projects. Sarah created the main character model. Ben created the landscape, spells, and the rest of the unreal engine environment. Together we have a fun game showcasing our passion for creating games.
Model designed and created by Sarah Wallace. I took my inspiration and brought it to life. My character was created, rigged, and animated in Blender prior to being imported into Unreal Engine.
Environment: I made this environment to show off my UI and spells, based the environment on my toon shader. I referenced the studio Ghibli style and The Legend of Zelda’s Breath of the Wild. I created the assets all in Blender. This allowed me to apply the materials ids there as well. I then compiled the scene in unreal, making use of the toon shader and flat colors for the textures which were created in photoshop.
