Developing as a concept artist
These projects see me develop my strengths & weaknesses, as well as pick up entirely new skills like 3D to be utilized in concepts. I'm traditionally very character-focused but have spent the past few months working on developing environments and props too. Here are some of my favourite snippets overall!

Round of applause for our sponsors
Hello, I'm Bailey, a concept artist!
Below I've displayed a few projects I've been working on in the past months. I primarily sell myself as a character-oriented concept artist, however as you'll see, I've been trying to develop myself to be a stronger, well-rounded artist, working more with props & environments as well as utilizing 3D!I do hope you like my work, and if you do, please feel free to follow me on my other social media where I'll be posting more work and updates!
Meet Nana Awachii!
Nana is part of a person project I'm developing, concepting a city based on D&D! I've started simple, with a leader of one of the cities guilds. I've been developing plans for her bakery and the surrounding district, but for now here's a taste! Its a small section of a larger project, but I'm proud of the rendering and design of her gym bakery! It was great to develop a more fun set of designs, as I've recently been working with grittier ideas. Utilizing 3D on the oven was also a great tool I learned, and feel its done me a great service for faster, accurate work!
Meet Cup!
Staying on D&D, Meet Cup! A Firbolg ranger scout with a knack for foraging, badge collection and sharp shooting! This was an illustration and sheet for a friend of mine's character, where we developed the existing design a little further and got to play with some fun ideas like the badges and bow!
Meet Viola!
Viola is a stronger demonstration of my iterative development. Looking back at the existing franchise of Dishonored, and developing a theoretical follow up, I tasked myself to write an adaptation that would be loyal, and push slightly further. Viola is the main character of that story! This meant a closer look to her design, researching clothes from the era, that could help shape future characters much faster. There's also of course a much closer look at her weapons and animations, with thought to how they'd be used in a first-person setting!Viola Window Smash Scene
I traditionally haven't tackled environments before this piece, atleast not to a standard I was overall happy with. However, this was my first attempt at utilizing 3D in a concept, which became invaluable, and a great learning experience.I wanted to display a sense of chaos and motion, capturing a perfect moment to make it feel as if Viola was hunting these people. It was a challenge to get it all clear, but I'm proud of how it turned out! It's been some time since I did it now, and feel I could do a lot to improve it, but fundamentally it works well, and I grew a lot from it!
Meet Adeline!
Adeline was created out of a bunch of concepts intended to be an enemy to Viola, someone who utilized a similar ability set to her.I found the idea of a leg using tech showed in Dishonored as well as the more magic void element, to create an elegant sword fighter, but more interesting. She was also more of a rendering project for me! Having her simply displayed, it was cool to work with more of a focus on visual presentation over straight concept. I felt it could be a display of a range of abilities, from concept to illustrations!
I've also included a direct journal page from my university time, which I felt might be interesting as I look into developing Adeline's Apartment! It was great to learn more 3D stuff, as well as work a little bit in unreal, before finally drawing over the image to fill the space. Theres certainly a lot more I could do here, but I felt it valuable!
