My portfolio: a continuous work in progress
I’m Valentina Greggio and one of my dreams is to succeed in becoming a professional 3d modeler. I lived my childhood watching animated films that together with many other films and projects in stop motion have brought me to the world of 3d. I share with you the works that I am most proud of, enjoy it
Hard Surface Models: tablet, camera, console, moto helmet, earphones, motorcycle
Last year I finished a 3d master and then in autumn I started Elementza’s course to better study hard surface. Here are the exercises I did during the course. My references were photos of the teacher but for some exercises I used other reference, like the console, is a generic console but at the end I tried to me it look like Nintendo Switch Lite. I always used Maya for modeling and Arnold for rendering, but for the motorcycle I used Redshift. These works are my first real works after the master, it was fun to be able to start creating something new with the notions taken.
Vintage Mantle Clock and Eyeglasses
After the course I tried to find work here in Italy and there was a job offer I wanted to apply for, for a glasses company. Although initially the idea of making glasses came from this offer, I was also interested to see how such an asset very popular could be rendered in 3d, playing not only with modeling (trying to understand the opening of the bars for example) but also with rendering, how to make that tortoiuse effect.
Around the same time I pulled out a model of an old watch that I had modeled right after the master, and I finished it and completed it, trying to make it realistic. These two types of assets I have always modeled with Maya but rendered with V-Ray.
Gebaur Stun Gun
This time I tried to replicate the Gebaur Stun Gun, from the concept of Lars Sowig and already made in 3d by Till Marzahn. It was my first model of a gun and it was fun to do it. I tried also to match the render with the reference.Sowig concept: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/aKENX
Warbot MK IV
This project was born from my desire to model a robot but from my confusion about where to start, and there Giulia Greggio intervened not only proposed me to do the robot of the concept, but also proposed this collaboration. The concept is of Jonny Duddle from his kid’s book The King of Space. She modeled, texturized and rendered the child (and the objects with which he is in contact such as the sticks and pillows), while I did the same but with the robot. Although the initial idea was to make it realistic, we then opted to make it a more stylized version that could be more similar to the concept idea, and also different from others 3d model of this concept.
