Virtual Productions - Vessel
Vessel is a sci-fi short movie produced by Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) students of the Academy of Games and Media together with Cradle.
This student project is the first of its kind and aims to improve and discover a new technique in filmmaking, Virtual Production. The students are fully invested in the project so much that BUas has partnered up with ROE Visual to acquire an LED wall with the necessary equipment to research virtual productions.
This short sci-fi movie will be the first production made with this new technique in mind, it will also be an example for future projects and a base for improvements.
Because the short film is still a work in progress (set to release on the 7th of July), the full video is not posted yet.
Story
Planetary Surveyor Aiden, stationed on Earth Colony 12, is on a mission to explore a massive "anomaly" on the planet Bronck. Joyriding his rust bucket craft to the site, Aiden is first in awe of his find, then fears for his life when he meets its dreadful inhabitants.
The Year is 3054. Frustrated and tired Aiden, a 29-year-old colonist who is still a teenager at heart, together with his injured, aspiring commander Marion, is out on one of his exploration missions. He discovers a signal anomaly on a familiar volcanic planet, and he wants to investigate it. We follow him from the moment he reaches the atmosphere of the planet until he is in front of the anomaly and everything that happens in between.
