A room visualisation project centered on replicating an existing room, with a focus on lighting and mood.

This project was my first go at a full environment in 3d! The room I decided to use as my reference was an Ikea show room, as I knew it would make it easier to find more detailed references (including going to my local Ikea to take a closer look during texturing), and also make it easy to modify the room to my own specs while maintaining a continuity of style and quality. I really love child-centered design- so wanted to put in a lot of details to show the character of the occupant - a dinosaur obsessed 8 year old, and tried to keep this in mind while texturing, coating more used items in curious finger prints and kiddie grime.

My main focus from the beginning of the project was to show a contrast between mood of the day and night lighting, wanting to go from a dreamy golden hour to neon night-lights, as I feel like as a child those shifts in light change the feel of a space so dramatically. I had done no environment lighting before this, only rough studio lights for prop renders so this was a real crash course in getting a really wide range of effects from Arnold. Between this and the fun of simulating my 'child's' play in the texturing stage I found a real love of lighting and texturing which I've been bringing more projects, including single asset ones.
