CONCEPT AND ILLUSTRATION PERSONAL PROJECT

This is my personal concept project based on the creation of a fantasy world for the development of a video game. In this universe there are different civilizations with their own environments and props, the following designs are contained in this same universe, representing different stories that happen throughout this world.

CHARACTER DESIGN

Gözət is the last of the guardians of the Ölüm Quorum temple, this building was originally a place to meditate and rest for travelers it but ended up becoming a prison, containing one of the most dangerous and powerful entities in the world.

Gözət patrols the temple guarding the entrance so that no intruder infiltrates and risks freeing the entity. Due to the darkness of the temple and his ragged clothes he can be mistaken for a human at first glance, but Gözət is a golem powered by arcane energy and his origin is unknown.

His physical body is very big and heavy and he has no arms but if he thinks that the temple could be in danger he would be able to summon up to four arms using a magical relic that he wears around his neck.

Developing this character I enjoyed it a lot and I set myself a challenge, having only a vague idea of how I wanted him to be, I set myself 3 objectives from the beginning and tried to develop him based on these, implementing and modifying what was necessary to make these requirements successfully. These were the goals to be met:

- Oriental West aesthetic.

- 4 arms.

- Make the viewer doubt if he is human.

PROPS

Here are some sci-fi props that are related to some of the previous environments and some characters that I haven't developed yet.


ILUSTRATION

This is one of the characters of my project, it is a samurai for whom I designed the character, his props and environment.

He is a ronin whose duty is to protect a cursed mask that works as a seal to contain a demon inside, which would be released if the mask is destroyed.

The character is a master swordsman considered one of the best warriors of his time, one day an incident occurred in relation to the mask in which several people died because of him, he lost his honor and was expelled from his dojo. After that day he carries the mask wandering around diferents places to prevent the mask from falling into the wrong hands.

He is a skilled and agile warrior with a serious personality. Despite his cold blood, he does not harm innocents, only those who try to harm him or the mask.

When the demon is released, it can possess any nearby animal thus obtaining certain physical traits in its transformation. These traits will be different depending on the body it possesses.

STUDIES

Some studies of volume, light, color and perspective that i liked.

SCULPTURE

A teacher taught us some artists that to make concept art they designed the idea and made a sculpture, which makes it easier for post-concept studies to work with the model, being able to easily use it as a reference with just a turn around.

This character has been made with monster clay from some pose and anatomy sketches.
