The Waste Age

I am designing for the public and the volunteers. The programme contain a charity shop for worn and upcycled clothes that contains a workshop where the establishment will benefits for the fund . It is a social enterprise that works within the local community offering a worthy place to donate your quality pre-loved or new goods. The programs help to preventing tones of items going to landfill every year.

ENTRANCE:

This is the first area you will see once you came in to our shop! First you can see mannequins on your left and photo display at your right. After a few steps up you will see a cork stool on your right, there are a snack of flyers about our workshop, the introduction and the prices. If you have any question, you can also ask at our counter as well as the cashier.

The design process of Entrance.

CLOTHING BANK + CHARITY SHOP

After walking in the entrance, the first area you will see is the clothing bank and the charity shop.

THE CHARITY SHOP:

This is what you will first see when you go down to the lower ground floor and turn left. It is another floor of the charity shop.

1. Wooden recycling. DIY some wasted wood to become a box. It can by a display and at the same this inside the box are able to store some clothes or any other things.

2. DIY make a chandelier from old wine bottles.

3. DIY Industrial Pipe Light Fixture.

FITTING ROOM AND CHARITY SHOP AREA:

This is another view of the charity shop which is also at the same area. From here you can see that I have unused many kind of recycle material because the aim priorities are to consume less, to repair and reuse what we already have, and to recycle what we throw away.

1. Repurpose an Old Ladder. I took an old ladder to knot it with rope and become a hanger.

2. About placing a foldable chair on the wall. Repurpose existing objects and not to create new ones. As you can see when there is no clothes to hang, it can be folded up to save space.

3. Customize an old gear and paste it on the wall as a decorative item because painted with paint is just way too normal and not recyclable.

4. As our main purpose is about fashion waste, I used the second hand unwanted clothes to create a fitting room’s curtain in patchwork. It helps to gave the unwanted clothes a second life.

5. As you can see the counter is different colour is because the idea is about collecting unwanted plank to become a counter.

THE REMADE FASHION WORKSHOP

This is the area of remade fashion workshop. This workshop is to design and create an amazing new piece of clothing or artwork by using the clothes from clothing back. It will be working on with a damaged or unwanted clothes either from their own wardrobe or from the clothing bank.
