WonderBudi

Children struggle to identify, regulate, and verbalize their own emotions, which makes it difficult for them to get the proper care.

Over 20 million children in the US struggle with ADHD, anxiety, behavioral problems, and depression, and most are not diagnosed until middle school. For younger children, they may not recognize their own anxiety and often lack the maturity to explain their real or imagined stressful issues. Public schools are making strides to give mental health benefits to students, but the counselors' student ratio is too big.

This leads to our target audience, children ages 5-12 who attend public schools. 

The Wonderbudi system includes three main touch points: a biometric reader on a Budiband that detects children in distress. Wonderbudi is the second touchpoint, which pairs with the Budiband. A child will be asked to visit Wonderbudi when their Budiband reads consistently elevated biometrics or when a teacher notices physical distress or behavioral concerns. Lastly, there is a parent app. With the parent app, parents can monitor their child's Wonderbudi visits as well as their entire biometric data. 

During the WonderBudi session, kids will have a choice of 6 activities along with a conversation with WonderBudi for reflection. These will help children calm down during an emotional distress but also normalizes children expressing themselves in times of stress. WonderBudi can give a social impact by fostering a uniform vocabulary for navigating emotional dysregulation, facilitating access to professional help, and being a catalyst for identifying potential underlying problems.
