Malena Santos (Zyralynn) Concept Art generalist Portfolio
Hi! My name is Malena Santos (AKA Zyralynn) and here I show you my work as an student in VoxelSchool. Some of the stuff that is posted here is character and creature design, illustration and thubnails.
This year I started studying Concept art at Voxel School and in this post, I will show some art pieces that were done during the course. Some of them are fully finished, and some are still "WIP", but I included on it realistic and stylized character designs, thubnails, enviroment, creatures and fanart to complete a Generalist Portfolio of Concept Art

As a "League of Legends" fan and artist, I regularily imagine how my own creations would came alive in that Universe. So, one of the most important personal projects I have been working in is Eleiden Blackveil, a fan character I created inspired in the Shadow Islands.
I consider that making up fanmade characters of an existing game or project is a very useful practise to test my habilites at character design. If it fits, its good!

I tested the design so much I changed few shapes several times. Even I made a concept sculpt in Zbrush wich I used to draw thubnails using photobashing. I loved focusing details on her face, trying to emulate the same texturing that Riot artist do. I'm sure I will continue this Concept Sculpt very soon.
Not only creating from 0 is educational, to imagine an already existing character from another point of view helped me to understand much better how character design influences game design and viceversa.
Zyra is my main character on League of Legends for years so I tried to keep in mind her mechanics, her Lore and nor forgeting MOBA's specifications. After 6 months of hardwork, I managed to finish a good Visual Rework of Zyra that shows how I imagine her if her design were more accurate to her Lore. It was extremely fun and interesting.

A Concept Art Generalist needs to keep variety in their portfolio, so I choosed to work in a Bodyguard scifi robot. To aim this goal I had to learn a lot about kitbashing and armory, so I had fun creating this big guy.
From old Shojo manga to modern anime, I grown up drawing powerful princesses and handsome knights. It was mandatory for me to learn drawing manga and render at least a character in a semi-realistic illustration.
This is what I came up with: A line-up of fantasy characters which main character is a princess.
And yes, she has some similar parts and shapes from previous characters I have shown here. I wanted to keep it personal and make Eleiden in an Alternative Universe. Good addition to my portfolio, and maybe, my favourite.
Before learning human anatomy and character design, a young me started to raise an special interest in concept art. That kid, drew an alien (wich was also inspired in League of Legends visuals) and loved it. That was my first step in concept art for me and the first creature I did working so hard.
Years later, I decided to come back to that design and improve it. I decided to make it as better as I can and add it to my Portfolio. Here it is, Naihm'kai.
"Die Daddy Die" is a group project I got involved in a group of Concept Artist of "Mad Cauldron" All were created inside VoxelSchool and is totally a project created by the students of the Academy. I had to design some characters and enviroments for the game.
