This is my entry for The Rookie Awards 2022. It has been a great learning experience, as well as a challenge, where I have been able to experiment and expand my knowledge of modeling, texturing and rendering. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

MY WORKFLOW

My prop is inspired by a real speaker. My intention was to create a real object from scratch, giving it later my personal touch through the details, providing it its own personality.

The process started with blocking in 3DS Max, followed by the high poly in the same program. To make the low poly I used 3DS Max blocking and imported it to Maya, where I did the optimization process and the UVs.

Once the low poly was finished, I started the baking process in Substance Painter. There I textured the speaker from start to finish. One of the things I was looking for in this project was to achieve as much realism as possible. For that reason, I put a lot of emphasis on the roughness variations. Later, I added the last details with a worn sticker and some inscriptions on one of the sides.

Finally, after exporting the maps, I put everything together in Marmoset to make the render. I tried, once again, to highlight the roughness variations with the lights.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my work.
