Abg Brown - Tricca, City of Gallows

Welcome to Tricca! Tricca is a project I started working on in 2020. A series of concept art and illustrations for a world built and written by a friend of mine for TTRPGs to be run within. 

The setting is a dark fantasy city, filled with pirates and thieves. 

The most important thing to me was to establish a consistent mood and aesthetic to run throughout the city so I played around with shapes for some of the smaller details like doors and windows, as well shapes and materials for the buildings to predominantly be made up of. 

I wanted to define a few silhouettes for the clothing of the people living in the city. I didn't want too specific of a time period in the designs as I wanted to keep the world more fantasy than historical, but I pulled loosely from 18th century styles to root it in something recognizable as 'pirate'. 

I also wanted to make sure that across different classes and income brackets the styles still looked cohesive with the key differences between the wealthy and working being the practicality of activities in the garments, as well as the perceived price of the materials used. 

I spent some extra time developing the "hub" of the city- the tavern known as "The Crossed Blades". I designed a few props, the exterior, a character to act as the owner and barkeep as well as illustrating a shot of the interior.

And I will leave this on my favourite piece I produced for this project.
