OYABUN - Short film

This is our latest school production at MoPA school, a 30 seconds short film about an ambitious Yakuza.

This short film was done for school, in ten weeks of work. We had to make a 30 seconds short film, on the theme of "Shapes and Spaces". 30 seconds being a very short amount of time, we decided to take inspiration in the edits of blockbusters trailers. 

Pre-production :

We wanted the short to have a strong artistic direction. The goal was to kill the clean and smooth 3D aspect and to go for a more 2D, scratchy look. 

The lightings, the colors, everything in the movie is unrealistic, making the fantasy even bigger.

Production :

The idea of our main character design was to make him looks like a reptile. We wanted his look to match with the snake. They both have sharp edges, and dynamic shapes. Also we wanted to give him an unrealistic and androgynous style.
