IN TRANSIT

In Transit is an audiovisual project based on Lo-Fi music and 2D animation and inspired by feelings that comes out in “non-places” and transit spaces such as airports.

This Master’s Final Project is formed by four tracks of music mixed with sounds related to airports and travel. Each one of them, with their own animation video clip and their own design. This project offers us a personal journey through some “non-places” that, although seemingly uniform and empty of culture and human warmth, are really filled with emotions and feelings.

DEPARTURES, BOARDING, ON BOARD AND ARRIVALS

After deciding to settle the story in an airport (as the non-place). I divided the four videoclips as Departures, Boarding, On board and Arrivals, seeming like the process that happens in an airport.

COLOR PALETTE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF COLOR

I wanted to revoke nostalgia and focus about the feelings that's why I decided to use desaturated colors.

COLORS AND FEELINGS

I used grey colors at the airport to relate this area with the non-places. The rest of the colors used in the project reflects some kind of feelings or the personality of the characters.

The colors of the feelings created around the airport fulfill the grey color of the non-place.

ANDATA AND RITORNO

In the videoclips, there's only two characters. Andata, the woman, that represents the departure and Ritorno, the man, that represent the arrival. The characters are named like this because of the respective italian meaning of the words.

You can't see any other person in the videos but there's some silhouettes that represent people related with the two main characters.

SOUNDS AND MUSIC

For this project, I decided to create four tracks of Lo-fi music. These songs are composed by real sounds and also by some created digitally. Some are own made and also I used some sounds from sound banks.
