Cole Leo - Concept art collection
Hello everyone! This is a collection of some of my concept art work from September 2021-May 2022. I focus on character and environment as I want to become an illustrator an both are important. Thank you for watching and have a great day/night!
These are some outfit explorations I did for a demigryph character Dwade that I made for a narrative of travelling. His clothing was mainly inspired by non-functional armour often seen in games.
Underneath is the process for an illustration made with the same character on video call to his boyfriend through his crystal ball. It was my first time using blender in order to get a base over which I could more accurately plan out my piece's perspective and values. A huge thank you to Daryl Clewlow for advice to aid the refinement of this piece!
here is some exploration with a bat-god character for an upcoming project of mine. Initially I had him a lot bulkier but I redesigned them with a slimmer body as I felt it fit the idea of a stealthy and agile bat character
This was an attempt at a splash illustration, in which I have an elemental bear worker causing damage at his factory (he's most likely underpaid so that's why). Here I started out with mapping my values, then after that I added colour using hard light layers in order to get this final result
below are environment thumbnails and colour scripts for an idea I had of dragons being used as public transport
This is a selection of colour scripts and illustrations for the above concept
here I show my sketch colouring method, I find adding values over the sketch to be key to getting readable form,
This was an illustration I did of a Lynel from BOTW for the XPawards hosted by Stakester. I had a hard time balancing out the colour as I've never used this much red before in an image, but colour theory saved it from being too overpowering and it made it through to the finals.
