HEATHEN

Heathen was a group IP project that I took part of for a concept design class back when I was in The One Academy. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi world where the regressed surviving society is corrupted and blinded by a power hungry, lying, all knowing Seer. Keandre is an ex-soldier and skeptic to the Seer’s powers. His non-conforming nature has pushed the Seer to devise a false conspiracy that aims to defame Keandre and his family by framing his newborn son who was born with an uncommon birthmark as the harbinger of a Second Calamity. 

I was tasked to design the secondary antagonists; the hunter and its ride. Inspired by berserker and Fenrir from Norse mythology, I tried to make their design rough and rigid with the extra use of scraps metals built for their apparels and saddle. For the wolf, I tried to incorporate Mjolnir hammer shape language to its overall design. Such as its heavy stomping front appendages, the hammer club tail, and its hide armor.

Props and Environment Design

It was a fun experience to design the props and buildings. I get to explore how to combine tech element to a traditional designs while making them fits and integrate together nicely.

Key Arts

Atma

Atma is a stylized IP for the basic concept design class. It is a story based on the Balinese culture where Nyoman, an energetic village boy, discovers a mysterious family relic in an old closet in his house. Curious, he triggers the relic and it accidentally trapped his soul to the afterlife. There, he starts his journey on getting back his soul (atma) while unraveling the truth behind his family’s past with an unexpected company.

Pancaka Tirta, meaning "5 holy waters", is the final destination for the souls (atma) in the Balinese Hinduism afterlife journey. It is a bathing place full of flowers with waterfalls in the middle of heavenly garden. Here, the atma will go through the final cleansing before entering Nirvana.

These are a compilation of environment artworks from the matte painting class! It was a fun change to deepen our understanding on environment design and render. 

The Neocasino

Towering in the very heart of an incredible dieselpunk inspired art deco city, the Neocasino is the center of nightlife with neverending entertainment on this utopian world.

Supadaloka 

Supadaloka is a personal IP on reimagining the mythical creatures around Nusantara (South East Asia) into a speculative zoology approach with a bestiary studies touch.

Storyboard and Story development - My Love

My Love was my final short film project on our last semester in The One academy and I was fortunate to be given the role of head of story to develop the story idea into a working story plot with the help of story team. we were tasked to storyboard the film, develop animatics and color scripts, and through trial and error, it was such a great and incredible experience to be involved in this project with incredible teammates.
