Elena Serenko 3D Animation 2022
Two 3D animation projects I created, revolving around a ditzy piece of playdough and a stoner renaissance fair performer.
Polly Polymer
A positive playdough personality with a penchant for losing her head, it's Polly Polymer!
Polly Polymer was the first fully rigged character I created during my Sophomore Year at Ringling College. When conceptualizing the character, I wanted to create a playful playdough personage that embodied the malleability of clay.
I did this by creating disembodied, articulated head that Polly's body could interact with as a prop. The rig is ultimately composed of two separate rigs connected to one another using a point constraint.
When approaching the look development of the character, I emphasized narrative. Polly's exterior is littered with preschool finger prints, roughened and dried from her adventures around the classroom, and speckled with intermixed colors and wayward smudges.
Bongo
Bongo, a stoner renaissance fair performer caught blazing.
I had a lot of fun creating a character who's punchline matched the costume. By avoiding performing as a dragon, Bongo ultimately embodies one. Being able to emphasize the performance and character within the piece, as well as take on the challenge of compositing visual effects was a great learning experience.
