Villain Concept design
My final project for my first year of concept development class at university.
Concept Art
Our project brief was to create a villain or evil overlord as well as a prop and environment design relevant to the character, all of which were descriptive enough to be used by a modeller.
Character sheet
I based my villain design on a classic evil scientist. My inspiration for the character came from a few different science fiction scientists, but she's mostly inspired by Reagan Ridley from Netflix's animated show Inside Job.
Prop Design
Our props are something that aids our villain in their villainous deeds. Dr. Byrd 's story comes from a solution she made out of a microbiotic sample and injected herself with. It gave her the ability to communicate with creatures that exist all around humanity but most people can't see, which is how she's able to learn things she couldn't otherwise know and further her hunt for power. This was inspired by a story in the game Disco Elysium, when the character is told about a scientist who injected herself with a cryptid organism (Cryobacter Katlensis).
Environment
I went for a pretty basic lab design for this environment, since I don't think her workspace would have any clues as to what she sees, at least not to the normal human eye.
