Japanese Shotgun
Here is my project for the Advanced Term at Think Tank Online. The original concept was created by Bruce Yu.
Grey Renders and Wireframe
All components were modelled in Maya. The branches, cloth, and flowers were brought into ZBrush for sculpting. Displacement maps for the metal patterns were made in Substance Painter. VRayFur was used to create stray threads.
AOVs (diffuse / reflGloss / specular)
Texturing was primarily done in Substance Painter. Mari was used for flower projections. Some patterns (e.g. the fish scales and seigaiha) were designed in Photoshop.
Look Dev
Lighting and rendering was done in Maya and V-Ray.
The biggest challenge of this project was finding a balance between practical and artistic design choices. Overall, I am happy with the results and everything I learned along the way.
Special thanks to the Think Tank community and my supervisor Oscar Sheikh.
Hope you enjoy!
